Peter Hook and Captain Pan

Following the success of their first Peter Pan production, OneTwoFly and Regionentheater are taking their collaboration further. Their new international show does not simply retell Barrie’s story, but transforms its themes into a highly visual blend of theatre and aerial acrobatics.

A poetic theatrical journey through the pages of a book, the magic of aerial acrobatics and the freedom to rewrite your own story.
Imagine opening your favourite book – a book you have written yourself. It tells of a dreamland called Neverland, of Lost Boys, of flying and of the eternal struggle between good and evil.

But suddenly, the two main characters tumble out of its pages and land right in your room. And they are not at all happy with the roles that have been written for them. Captain Hook, in particular, is tired of always having to be the villain. He wants to be allowed to show fear without appearing weak. He wants to laugh, to dream – and, at last, to learn how to fly. Peter Pan, on the other hand, wants to remain exactly as he is: the hero who never grows up, never needs anyone and always wins. But when his familiar story begins to fall apart, Peter is forced to discover that change does not have to be frightening. Being different can open the door to new possibilities, unexpected friendships and perhaps even much more fun.
At the centre of it all stands the ageing writer J. M. Barrie. Slowly, he realises that his characters have come to life – and that he has the power to tell their story differently. But can an author truly change his characters? Or must they ultimately perform their new story for themselves?

In “Peter Hook and Captain Pan”, the Swiss aerial-acrobatics duo OneTwoFly and Germany’s Regionentheater combine theatre, aerial acrobatics, music, dance, puppetry and shadow play. Together, they create a visually rich journey through a Neverland that continually transforms before the audience’s eyes.

A story about the longing to fly, about fear and courage, about childhood and growing older – and about who we might become if we find the courage to rewrite our own story.  For children of primary-school age, families and adults who have not forgotten how to dream.
